Adeline Sinclair: Platinum Bond Courtesan
I’ve always been drawn to women who create their own lives—women who define success, pleasure, and freedom on their own terms and aren’t afraid to live entirely in their own lane. There’s something endlessly fascinating to me about a woman who knows what she wants and builds her world around it.
Los Angeles based Adeline Sinclair is one of those women. A professional companion with a thoughtful and intentional approach to her work, Adeline has created a lifestyle that is distinctly her own. I photographed her when she visited New York and I sat down with her to talk about how she found her way into companionship, what she loves about the work, how she structures her life around it, and what she’s learned about herself along the way. I absolutely love Adeline’s bond girl marketing approach - it’s so bad ass!
You can see more of Adeline on her website which features many of the photos I made of her and you can get even more access to her on her Only Fans
How did you first get into the world of companionship, and what made you feel like it would be a fit for you?
I’ve always been interested in sex work. I found it fascinating, and I’d been involved in it in different ways throughout my life.
There’s rarely a lady I’ve met who has not gotten into it through one of two ways: sugaring or stripping. For me, it was sugaring. I was on Seeking, and one very annoyed man said, “All these girls should just be on Tryst.” I was like, “What’s that?” He told me to look it up, so I did.
After that, I spent about six months researching what it meant to be an escort and how to do it safely and properly. I wanted to make sure I understood what I was getting into and knew how to do it well. It can be tricky, and you should know what’s going on.
I actually think sugaring can be just as dangerous, but there isn’t nearly as much emphasis on safety for sugar babies. Sugaring can feel like escorting without the boundaries, the good money, or the professional separation between the client and escort.
How long have you been Adeline Sinclair?
About three years now. It flies by. At this point, I’ve built it up, I know the lay of the land, and I love it. I love being an escort.
What do you love about it?
I feel like I’ve found more self-value through it. There’s something about putting a specific number on my time that has made me much less willing to deal with bullshit.
I also think it’s fun and unique. One of my values in life is leading an interesting life, and through escorting, I absolutely do. I meet interesting people. I get to fly around the world. And even when I’m staying home, I get to connect with people on such a deep level, so immediately, in a way I don’t think is generally available to civilians.
Has escorting changed your relationship with money?
Yeah. How could it not?
When you start making this kind of money, your perspective naturally changes. A hundred dollars will still give me pause, but having multiple hundred-dollar bills in my wallet becomes much more normal.
How have you been able to invest in yourself or change your lifestyle since you started?
For me, the money has mostly been about funding my business. I know some women get into this and want to spend the money on themselves, which is great, but for me it has primarily been a way to fund what I’m building.
Even though I make a lot of money, I try to keep most of it in my business. There are certainly things like the fancy place I live, but for the most part, I’m not just spending the money on myself.
Tell me about the business you’re building. You’re designing lingerie, right?
Yes. I’m designing underwear, and the idea is essentially to seduce people into sustainability.
Sustainability shouldn’t be something the end customer even notices. It shouldn’t look sustainable. It shouldn’t feel sustainable. It shouldn’t wear like it’s sustainable. It should just be good clothing.
The materials I plan to use are carbon-sequestering, among other considerations. There are a lot of different factors involved.
One thing that’s important to me is building a self-funded business. I don’t want investors who can eventually put their finger on the scale and say, “This needs to make more money. We need to switch to cheaper materials.” Those little decisions can add up over time and make something less sustainable.
You have the best taste and styling abilities- I absolutely love how you styled yourself when I photographed you so I’m super excited to see your brand when you launch.
What keeps you interested in companionship?
There are so many interesting people out there.
For me, companionship is an opportunity to put down my phone and give another person 100 percent of my attention. It’s almost like entering a flow state where I’m completely immersed in that person.
Giving someone that kind of attention makes them feel good, and it makes me feel good.
And I love the money.
What have you learned about relationships and intimacy through your work?
Some of my clients are married, and I think one thing that becomes very clear is that these people can still have so much love for their wives.
Obviously, nobody necessarily wants their husband to go out and “cheat,” but I think seeing an escort can function as a form of harm reduction. There are boundaries. I’m not going to fall in love with you. I’m not going to follow you around. You’re paying me for my time.
In that sense, I think seeing an escort can be safer and smarter than having a traditional affair in the real world.
What do you think most of your clients are really looking for?
Connection.
Yes, they want intimacy, but I think intimacy can sometimes be a mask for this deeper connection that they either aren’t getting at all, aren’t getting with their partner, or simply want more of.
I think it can be difficult for men to connect in the ways women often connect very easily with one another. Women can be very intimate and loving with each other, and we talk about all sorts of things.
Within the capsule of an appointment, I’m able to talk with my clients about really deep, intimate subjects that men don’t typically open up about.
How open are you about your work with people outside of the industry?
I do tell people, although I’m still a little cautious about who I tell.
Pretty much all of my friends know, and I have no problem with them knowing. I know some women have communities that are far less supportive, but with the kind of people I keep around me, nobody really blinks an eye.
What’s something surprisingly mundane about doing this job?
You still have to do your taxes!
There’s accounting, the corporate setup—all of that really boring stuff.
I keep a calendar of all my clients, so if I’m forgetting who somebody is, I can go back and search where I met them. Usually, seeing the hotel gives me the visual cue I need to remember who they are and what we talked about.
Sometimes I’ll save someone as a contact and make notes about their preferences, interests, what’s going on in their life, and things like that. And it’s definitely best to have a separate phone.
What are some of the essentials you bring with you to an appointment?
I have a specific purse that I always carry. I don’t use most of what’s in it every time, but I have a selection of condoms in different sizes, lube, wet wipes, a snack, mints, maybe some gum, and business cards—although I rarely give those out.
I’ll also bring one little discreet vibrator, but that’s more in case of emergency than something I use all the time.
Do you usually play music during appointments?
Not really. Sometimes clients will put something on, or I’ll play a little music from my phone in the background.
For the most part, I don’t feel any particular way about having sex in silence. I’m obviously not going to be silent. I think men enjoy hearing a woman enjoying herself.
How did you come up with the Bond Girl aesthetic for Adeline Sinclair, and how much of it is naturally you versus a character?
During those six months when I was researching escorting, I was also looking at how people branded themselves and what seemed to work or not work.
One thing that really struck me was the element of secrecy surrounding the work and the idea of creating an escort persona. The thing that immediately made sense in my head was, Okay, then I’ll just be a spy.
We could play it up and turn it into this whole little world.
I’ve always loved spies and that entire aesthetic, and I think Bond Girls are incredibly sexy. So it came from a very natural place of interest and delight for me.
It makes me very happy to inhabit the persona of Adeline Sinclair. There’s a thrill to it. I’m naturally interested in creative expression, so having this specific space where I can really drop into a character, live it out, and editorialize it is creatively indulgent for me.
Technically, someone might say that being “the girl next door” would make me more money, but that’s fine. I’m getting something personally and creatively fulfilling out of the exercise of being Adeline Sinclair.
I get to play this role of a secretive, hot spy who’s coming to honeypot you.
How do you manage dating and romance alongside your work?
I’ve been very lucky. I had a partner from before I started doing this, and he never had a problem with my work, which was really great.
That relationship has technically ended, although we still see each other all the time. Now that I’m back on the dating market, it’s definitely something that’s on my mind.
I think the right person won’t care. But there are a lot of wrong people along the way.
Would you ever date a client?
If it were a good arrangement and it worked for both of us—if I was satisfied with what I was getting from it and what he was getting from it—then absolutely, I would.
But generally speaking, no.
Is monogamy appealing to you?
I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently.
My last relationship was technically open, although I didn’t really want to know about what was happening outside of it. Interestingly, I had a much harder time with my partner seeing women in a vanilla context than I did with him seeing escorts.
At the same time, I know I have a wandering eye. I think I’ll always want the freedom to hook up with somebody—or at the very least flirt, make out, and play.
Has this career made you more confident or adventurous?
Absolutely more confident.
It has given me more self-worth because, again, putting a specific number on my time makes certain things very clear. I can think, Okay, I could be getting paid for this. Why am I here if I’m not enjoying it?
There’s also something powerful about realizing that men will pay me a lot of money just to spend time with me. It makes me much quicker to walk away from someone who is being wishy-washy or wasting my time.
Is there an experience with a client that has particularly stayed with you?
There’s one that was less about an extravagant date and more about the impact the experience had on this particular client.
He was a younger man who had previously only had one sexual experience with a woman, and it had been very unfortunate. He hadn’t been able to orgasm, and the way she responded to him was, to be honest, toxic. It made it very difficult for him to perform after that.
I felt like this was the perfect use case for an escort. I’m a professional. I can work with you, and I bring no pressure or expectation that this needs to be some kind of performance. I’m just here human-to-human, and we can work through it together.
It took a while, but eventually he was able to orgasm with a woman for the first time.
Months later, he sent me an email thanking me. He told me he’d gotten his first girlfriend afterward and felt that our experience had helped him get there.
That gave me goosebumps. It still makes me so happy to think about it. In the moment, yes, it was a little bit of work. But to be able to have that kind of lasting impact on someone feels like a gift.
Do you travel with clients?
Yes. I’ve traveled to Hawaii, Japan, London, and a few other places with clients.
It definitely depends on the client, but I generally enjoy traveling with them. I arrange my own hotel room and my own flights because confidential information can come up when you’re booking those things.
Travel also gives you the opportunity to really drop in and experience another person over a longer period of time. There’s less pressure to fit intimacy into such a specific window, and there’s more time to simply enjoy each other and relax.
Some of those experiences have been among the most relaxed and indulgent trips I’ve ever had.
What does your ideal client look like?
Someone interesting who respects my boundaries. The more someone respects my boundaries, the more open and giving I naturally become. Pushing against them will always have the opposite effect.
My ideal client is kind, generous, engaged, and able to carry a conversation. I can certainly keep a conversation going myself, but I love when we genuinely hit it off and can talk until the early hours of the morning—when ending the conversation becomes more difficult than sustaining it.
Do you have an ideal age range?
I tend to prefer gentlemen who are a little older than I am. In my experience, older clients are often more chivalrous. They might arrive with a gift, a tip, or a bottle of champagne, and they tend to appreciate the complete wining-and-dining experience.
That isn’t universally true—I’ve met younger gentlemen who create that full experience as well—but younger clients can sometimes be more focused on sex alone. That’s part of the reason I have a two-hour minimum. I’m not interested in simply having sex and immediately leaving. For me, companionship is about connecting with another person and creating a deeper experience in which they feel genuinely seen.
I love my older clients. Generally, the older they are, the sweeter and more wonderful they seem to be.
Have you ever needed to end a date early?
I’ve never left an appointment early, although I once met a client who wanted kink services after I had made it clear during the booking process that I only offer vanilla experiences. During our time together, he continued trying to steer things toward kink, and I repeatedly had to tell him no.
I completed the appointment, but I chose not to see him again. Overall, I’ve been very fortunate. The gentlemen I meet are generally interesting, kind, and respectful, and I haven’t experienced much trouble—knock on wood.
You recently joined OnlyFans. How has that experience been?
OnlyFans has been incredibly helpful, particularly while I’ve been away from in-person work. It has allowed me to continue earning money while taking the time I needed to recover. You can find me there under Adeline Sinclair.
What does a genuinely well-lived life look like to you right now?
I think I’m living it right now. It means having freedom within my schedule and freedom within my business because it’s self-funded. It means living in a gorgeous apartment that makes me happy, spending lots of time with my two sweet cats, and having financial freedom.
Especially in America today, simply being able to afford your life is significant. There is so much financial hardship, and I’m extremely fortunate that, for the most part, I don’t experience that. I still have anxieties about money because I became financially aware during the 2008 recession, so it never feels as though I have enough. But objectively, I do have enough. I’m doing fine.
I recently had surgery, and being able to take time away from work, recover properly, and not worry too much about money was an incredible privilege.✦
